Carla MartinCarla Martin, Black Liberation Activist Washington, DC

My career began with Department of Justice Training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, GA. I started Coalition Employment Services (for Ex-Offenders) with the Connecticut Prison Association. I have been a Parole Officer in both Connecticut and Virginia Beach. I also participated in a successful 14-city demonstration project with Robert Woods Johnson and the Urban Institute providing wrap around services to men and women returning from prison.

This informed work within the system provided a ‘birds-eye view’ of constant Injustice and Maltreatment of marginalized people that I couldn’t accept.

I am currently heavily involved in Dismantling the Non-System of Criminal Justice and Ending Police Brutality. I organize to create spaces of Knowledge, Power and Emotional Emancipation for descendants of Enslaved Human Beings.
