Although there has been little national media attention, on November 7th, there will major Statewide elections in VA and NJ and Local mayoral elections in many cities including Atlanta, Atlantic City, Boston, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Detroit, Jersey City, Miami, Minneapolis, New York City, Pittsburgh, Rochester, St. Paul, St. Petersburg, and Seattle (balloting concludes). Notably, every elected statewide office will be voted upon in Virginia, including the 100 seats for the entire house of delegates, and local municipal elections. As a critical swing state, all eyes will be on Va to determine whether the elections will be a harbinger of national electoral trends.

In New Jersey there will be elections for Governor and Lt. Governor as well as the mayoral races indicated above.

Because of the lack of media focus and a tendency for many voters to engage in presidential voting, lots of voters in VA and NJ are unaware that voter registration deadlines are closing in next seven days. Our show will discuss those voter registration deadlines and how All of our listeners can help people in those states to be educated about timely registering and available resources to do so. Also, we will discuss new voter identification requirements in VA and any other requirements for Election Day. It is estimated that 193,000 Virginians may be discouraged from voting due to the new voter ID requirements. Our show will encourage voting by providing resources to assist voters with Voter identification issues.

Issues to be discussed during the show include: What is the voter registration deadlines in Virginia and New Jersey?; How do I register to vote?; Where can I get assistance to register to vote?; What special outreach is being done to mobilize the vote for November 7th?; Who can help me obtain right voter identification for voting in Virginia?; How do I learn more about the candidates running for office?
