April 10, 2018

Our show on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 will feature a recap of last week’s events in Memphis Tennessee during the MLK 50th anniversary of the assassination. We will review the Millennial Votes Matter Training event that was sponsored by the Transformative Justice Coalition. We will also discuss the moving tribute at the National Civil Rights Museum on April 4th in honor of Dr. King and other programs held that week. Interestingly, an entire generation of youth are just discovering the courageous actions of Coretta Scott King in the aftermath of Dr. King’s death. Fortunately, social media captured her bravery 50 years ago, on April 8, when she led the Memphis March Coretta Scott King, 4 days after the assassination, in the face of opposition, to highlight commitment to continuing Dr. King’s justice quest.

Our guests will include Betty Magness, Illinois Political Director for Rainbow PUSH Coalition, Caitlyn Cobb, TJC Social Media Specialist and others. Please see guest pictures and bios at www.BarbaraArnwine.com.

Host Barbara Arnwine and her guests will explore the meaning of the 50th Anniversary Commemoration in Memphis. They will reflect on spending this special time in Memphis with Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr. Questions to be explored include, What is the meaning today of Dr. King’s death? Who is responsible for fulfilling Dr. King’s vision for a racially and economically just and peaceful nation? What was shared and learned during the Millennial Votes Matter Training event? Why the this strong emphasis on voter registration and voter turn out? How can every American eligible to vote sure that they are Vote Ready? How will the new Poor People’s Campaign further Dr. King’s last major planned campaign? Is America finally ready to embrace the King vision? Have we moved beyond that vision? What should people know about Coretta Scott King? Where Do We Go From Here? Chaos or Community? These and more questions will be covered during the show.
